UMKHUMBE – EYE TRACKING AS MEANINGFUL INTERFACE

study-active-checking-moreChallenged with utilizing LC Technologies’ EyeGaze eye tracking platform as an interface for a video game, a team of five had two weeks to develop a game and surrounding technologies which could elicit meaningful responses and play from what has traditionally been an interface only applied to accessibility and industrial applications.

Inspired by the crisis surrounding the poaching of African Rhinoceros, Umkhumbe asks the player to guide a family of Rhinoceros through a treacherous wilderness reserve using only their eyes. The game was developed using Unity3D and proprietary libraries which interface directly with the eye position and tracking data provided by the EyeGaze hardware.
